La Seu d’Urgell
La Seu d’Urgell, capital town of L’Alt Urgell, with 13,000 inhabitants, is situated between the rivers Segre and Valira, in the heart of the Pyrenees, between Andorra, La Cerdanya and El Pallars Sobirà. It is conceived as a service centre for a broad Pyrenean area. Its immediate surroundings are extremely beautiful -the Cadí Valleys.
Many elements, such as its landscape, its monumental medieval quarter, the Parc del Segre Olympic facilities, the proximity of the Cadí-Moixeró Nature Park and four Nordic ski resorts have turned the city into an important tourist centre. La Seu d’Urgell is one of the oldest towns in Catalonia. Its geographical situation as a crossroads of civilizations and cultures has led it to experience major events in our nation’s history.
